Unity
Church of Lawrence is a thriving community of involved individuals
who practice awakening to the Divine in everyone and everything.
We share our gifts and learn about ourselves through service
to our church family and the world around us. Serving gives
us an opportunity to connect and work with like-minded individuals
and share our abundance of talent with one another and our
world community. We serve because we are served, and we are
grateful.
We
have many opportunities through which we express our God-given
abilities.
The
mission of the Unity
Art Gallery is to encourage and inspire, honor and
celebrate the unique creative spirit in the visual arts.
The gallery ministry plans and installs exhibits, works
with participating artists, coordinates publicity, and
hosts receptions for shows. Any medium such as works
on paper, canvas, or fiber which can be installed on
our gallery walls has been exhibited. Special consideration
is given to works of art produced by our congregation
or local artists. We do both group and one artist shows
and have exhibited all age groups.

To
update the list of volunteers who are interested in
giving their time and talents to serve on the grounds
committee and to provide regular care of the grounds
by completing necessary tasks.
To
extend the philosophy of UCOL (a diverse and welcoming
community of love, laughter, play, and spiritual celebration)
into the landscaping around the church and annex. This
may be done with on-going love and care of our grounds,
making it a welcoming place with diverse flowers, plants,
and art work.

Gary Frager has been our Unity accompanist and award-winning multi-instrumentalist for over nine years. His music background is as varied as the styles of music at our spiritual community, from symphonic trumpet and trombone to sax and keyboards on cruises, to the Ringling Brothers circus. Oh, did I mention Gary had breakfast with Count Basie! At Unity, he has had the opportunity to perform with such notables as Kelley Hunt, Devotion, Chris Williamson, Jana Stansfield, and so many other fine musicians.
Here at UCOL, we are always finding new ways to involve the congregation with new modes of style and presentation. In short, the music here is happening!

The
Community Outreach
Ministry identifies programs, projects, and individuals
in the community and within the church that need assistance,
support, and loving care. Ideas and initiative are welcomed
from Unity members as well as assistance with coordination
of these projects. Outreach projects are communicated
to Unity members through e-mail, bulletins, flyers,
and "good ol' word of mouth." The ministry
helps connect groups and individuals of Unity Church
with service opportunities.
Currently,
the goal of the ministry is to coordinate a project
quarterly that will assist members of our community.
We recently collected back packs and school supplies
for children and families in need.
The
ministry welcomes members that have a desire to serve
in our Unity home and in our community.

Uniteens,
6th through 8th grade, like to have fun while exploring
the love and light within. Each Sunday we start by joining
at the beginning with the high school aged Y.O.U. leading
songs and prayer. Our class is always innovative and
interactive, playing games or often using ourselves
as props to explore our inner selves. We encounter the
Divine through meditation, concentration activities,
unifying body, mind, and spirit while having fun.
Also
we often go on regional and local retreats to exciting
settings. Our goal is to celebrate and create Spirit
conciousness in our youth.
